Sometimes we make big changes expecting to see big results only to be disappointed when small things happen. I’ve done this. In fact, there are times when I’ve over promised and under delivered.
I hate it when that happens!!
I guess most people would call that the growing pains of experience right?
Lately I’ve been seeing something happen where small changes are resulting in better outcomes.
A little bigger, a little better, but not huge.
But big enough that when changes keep going, the better outcomes snowball into huge change over time.
A slow build, but enough to give results that matter and make a huge difference over time.
I use this phrase a lot these days…
“All we need to do is move the needle just a little and it will make the difference we need to get things going down the right path and give us the results we want.”
In triathlon, if you can increase your bike speed one mile an hour it will shave minutes off your over all time. Increase your running pace by 15secs per mile and the same happens. Minutes disappear in your overall time.
Change direction of your business strategy by just a little and it will take you in a different direction with possibly bigger out comes in the end.

Notice where it starts and where it ends. Starts small.. ends big.
I have a friend who specializes in optimizing web pages to see how well certain page layouts result in conversion to sales. Even the color of the check out button makes a difference he says. But just increasing conversion by 2% can result in a significant increase in readership or revenue for a web site. Amazing right? Just a little nudge of the needle is all it takes.
What are you doing right now where you could move the needle just a little to make a huge difference in the end?
