It’s crazy how the simplest ideas in the social media world become some of the biggest hits. When twitter first came out, their whole thing was “tell us what you are doing today”. Really? That’s all?

Then comes along Instagram and takes things to a whole new level.

In fact, as much as I love twitter and the value it has in keeping me informed, up to date on what’s going on with my friends and what’s happening in the news, my first inclination is to browse Instagram before looking at twitter.

Instagram keeps me completely entertained and seeing life in pictures tells me shows me so much more about what people are experiencing in their day.

I love it.

Like twitter, I love being able to interact with friends on Instagram, but what I love more with instagram is how easy it is the scroll through pictures and simply ‘like’ a picture or write a quick comment.

I know what you must be thinking… big deal, you can do that on facebook and reply on twitter. True. But the instagram app allows you to do both very quickly with virtually no effort.

Yes there is twitpic, yfrog, hootsuite and a host of other ways to post pictures on twitter and facebook, but none of those are as easy to use and more importantly… Engage with others… than with instagram.

When the new twitter app came out, twitter launched their new picture format which usually shows up as pic.twitter.com. I’m sure its easy for some to use, but most times it’s a slow loading process… which for me is frustrating.

I want to engage with people in the fastest and easiest way possible.

So, if you are reading this and haven’t jumped on the Instagram yet, I would highly encourage you to do it! It’s easy and the filters they give you are fun.

Don’t worry about building a following. You can link it to twitter, facebook, foursquare and foodspotting. Once you start posting instagram photos on these networks your friends will come following.
