Where Would You Travel On A Four Day Weekend?

Travel, Vacating

rome_colosseumIf you could go anywhere in the world with a friend for a four day weekend, where would you go and what would you do? Most of my friends have not traveled as much as I have so I might take them to Rome. Travel on Friday, hit the sites Saturday and Sunday, fly home on Monday. Sounds crazy? I would do it. You would be shocked at how cheap you could do something like this.

So tell me… where would you go and what would you do? Bed and breakfast disconnected from the outside world to staying in Times Square for the weekend…Anything… tell me what you would do… and have a great weekend!

This is a good question. Much would depend on the time of year. Since this is a cold winter in North Texas, I would head to Hawaii. Straight to Ke Iki Beach on Oahu’s North Shore. Great bungalows there, just about a thousand yards from the Bonzai Pipeline. This is a wonderful slice of paradise that makes you feel like your beachfront bungalow is worlds away. It’s not far from Waimea Bay, and Matsumoto’s famous Hawaiian Shaved Ice emporium.

    You buyin’ the tickets?

Hmm… what CAN you do… in just 4 days? Gosh…. I would probably head up to Toronto Canada just to visit friends… or maybe go Skiing in Utah. That’s probably all the times I would have with just 4 days to enjoy. Great question.. Spence!

I would go to Paris. I would hang in the local neighbourhood for a lovely Parisian dinner with good wine…would walk and walk ..to the antique street markets, through Montmarte, around Garden Tulleries, Luxenbourg Gardens….visit Musee D’Orsay, vist The Shakespeare and Company bookstore, stand in the light of Saint Chapelle, walk around the Left Bank, take in the “aliveness” of the ..city of Lights. I may even walk up the Eiffel Tower again….can’t forget sipping cafe au lait and eating a fresh baguette at an outdoor cafe!

Iceland’s been on my list for awhile, and apparently it’s a good time to go money-wise since their banking system has collapsed. (I am a bad person. I buy plane tickets after things go badly in a country because it’s cheap and I’m poor.) So I’d fly out, hang out in Reykjavik, then head up to see the countryside, with stops at hot springs and things like that. Hopefully get some kayaking in and spend as much time outdoors as possible!

Great timing on your post cuz I happen to be doing that very thing this upcoming weekend. Only out of necessity (I have to make a visa run), but I am going to Cyprus for 5 days, Thurs-Mon) If you want to join me, we would have a blast! :) Cheers!

I would probably have to go back to Europe but it would be so hard for me to decide between…Zermatt, Switzerland in the Alps and somewhere in Italy along the Mediterranean Sea. On my last trip to Europe 2 of my friends and I went to 6 different countries in 2 weeks time. Zermatt was my favorite town to be in…the people there were so nice and the mountains were breath taking. Then when we were taking the train from Rome to Paris we rode along the Mediterranean Sea for a long time, it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen!!! I would love to stay at a hotel or something right along the sea to actually experience time with God there!!!!

Thanks for such a great question Spence!!! When do we leave????

I have a degree in International Studies, and I now also work for the airlines, so my husband and I LIVE for 3-4 day trips. We also factor in time zones: less time means let’s head West, we can eat the time coming home, or catch a red-eye, get your sleep in the plane and hit the ground running. My mom and I have done Hawaii in two days, so anything is possible, it just depends on how adventurous you are. Back to your question: I would catch a red-eye to any major city in Europe, near the Mediterranean and high-tail it over to Turkey, taking in everything in between.

    hmmmm…

    4 days to go anywhere?

How about flying to Orlando, taking in Universal and their incredible coasters with an express pass, then heading down to the Keys for dinner at Morada Bay in Key Largo, then on to the Casa Marina hotel in Key West, and then a day of Snorkeling with Danger Charters, then flying back through Kansas City, have dinner at gates BBQ, and then on back to Southwest Kansas, home sweet home…

My idea of the perfect weekend trip would be to go to some remote village in Africa, it wouldn’t really matter which country. I have always wanted to go there. The best trip I have been on so far was last year when I went to the Amazon Jungle. I loved meeting the people who lived there, spending time with them and playing with their children. Several people invited me into their homes and we talked about so many things. I can only imagine what it would be like to sleep so far from a city full of lights, to be able to witness more stars in one night than I have seen in my lifetime. I would want to do the same kind of thing, new people, new culture, same creator.

I don’t know you personally. I came across your blog after reading Angie Smith’s blog. But, I did enjoy answering your question.
