Welcome To Life In 2010!

Lifestyle

It seems fitting to post something for the first day of 2010. For many of us, we want this day to be the first day of new beginnings. We want life as we have known it to be just a little different or for some… a lot different than 2009.

So let’s get to it!

I have a lot I want to accomplish in 2010. Here’s what part of my lists looks like.

1. Continue to train for triathlons and make improvements in my weak areas.

2. Finish out my race calender for 2010 which already includes 2 Half Marathons, 2 Half Ironman events, some olympic distance tri’s and a 10k at higher altitude.

3. Finish projects I’ve started.

4. Walk out some ideas that have been brewing inside me as well as ideas I’ve started with my closest friends.

5. Continue to grow my area of responsibility with Compassion International and help build some teams around some very important poverty issues.

6. Find new ways to inspire those who will listen to do something they’ve never dreamed possible.

These 6 items are just a few things in my head at the moment. There’s no doubt that i will do some planning and goal projecting in order to walk these items out… but there’s one thing about me that is most important no matter what plan is put in place…

Living Life To The Fullest…

My basketball coach told me something that has always stuck with me.

Never let the play get in the way of the game.

So no matter what your plans are… or my plans… life will happen no matter what the plan is, sometimes you ditch the plan and go where life is taking you at the moment, then jump back in with the plan when the time is right.

So…. What does 2010 look like for you?

Enjoyed your post. I want to find some margin in my life for the things that matter most to me. Faith. Family. Health.

My word for the new year is "change" and it is one little word with big side effects both good and bad. Every day I aim to change something about myself or my life for good. That's it.

In a nutshell, my 2010 looks bright and shiny. :)
I like #6 the best. That's a great goal. (Inspire away! You and several other bloggers I follow write entries that get my creative juices flowing and have stirred my confidence.) I'm still working on my list, but have been mulling it over these past few days. One of them is always choosing love over fear when at a proverbial fork in the road (big or small). So convicted of that here recently. That and giving myself the same grace Jesus gives me. Those are kind of broad, I know. But I have some specifics that are emerging. One is definitely getting my blog up and rolling again. I'm thinking of folding it into WordPress for a number of reasons, one of them being that I simply need a fresh start. I hardly ever write anymore, except comments on blogs and missives to my friends, and I need to get back to my writing roots. I edit all day every day, and I adore words, but my own have become unfamiliar. Others: Well, I would like to get through the swim of a tri this year without panicking. I might try my first half marathon this year. I need a cooking goal. Suggestions welcome, but it needs to get me eating out less. Finally, I'm thinking something along the lines of your #6: do something I've never dreamed possible. But I'm going to just ruminate on that one until I can make it into a measurable goal.

    Happy New Year, Spence!

I have many, spinney. BUT…..one is to be as good on wordpress as YOU! And learn to get my old school pen and ink mentality into the fast paced 2010.

You're an inspiration. A friend. A gift- that I've been so blessed to have so near by.

    Happy 2010 Spence Barron Smith!

My plan for 2010 is totally different from the one I started 2009 with, Last January, my goal was to obtain an agent and a publisher and then to write a bestseller. God upended that goal through the Wrtite-to-Publish conference in June and through Michael Hyatt's blog. By thinking about and launching my own blog, I have a business plan which I have never had before. The goal of that plan is to get my message out to as many people as possible. The message? God loves each of us and His love is absolute–perfect, complete, and real. When the truth of this love permeates the human race, watch out world! Why? Because God's absolute love is the only power greater than the power of evil.

My plan for 2010 is drastically different from what I imagined in that I don't have a plan other than this: to trust God fully, write and to not fear where He leads me.

I've been exceptionally focused on a particular career. And I've come to see in the last 11 months, that God has other plans. I can't wait to see what happens! I leave for NC tomorrow morning. By next Thursday, I want to be sitting in my favorite coffee house on the water and writing. I can't wait!

I think in 2010 I want to focus on ACTION. I want to jump into life and stop sitting on the sidelines. I have no problem dreaming big dreams but I want to begin making them happen.

Also, want to focus on cultivating relationships with people admire. I want to make sure my time is invested in people who inspire and enrich my life.

Lastly, I want to focus on things eternal instead of things commercial. I just am over wanting things only to get them and feel dissatisfied. Lofty I know but I want to at least be conscious of it.

Oh and…Thanks for being my friend. You have blessed me much in 2010. Heck, I essentially wouldn't have a blog if it weren't for you….And I love my blog. Let's hang soon.

In 2010 I want to focus on 3 Words – an exercise by Chris Brogan. He uses 3 words to encompass everything he does for the year. My three words are catalyst, athlete, coffee. It's a little abstract, but you can read my blog for details.
