My 2010 Triathlon Race Schedule

04/16/2010

Triathlon

Since spring is here and summer is shortly to follow, I’m in the planning stages of what my triathlon race schedule might look like. I say might because these are the races I would like to do, but if my travel schedule gets crazy, then there will be few I can’t do.

Also… any time I post my race intentions online it’s another layer of added accountability so you folks can help keep me on track and motivated. I mean… that’s what friends are for right?

When I started doing triathlons I never imagined I would love it as much as I do. I truly do learn something new at every race. I either learn something about myself or something about the way my body works in a race, but most times I wish it worked a little faster. So doing this many races in a summer is completely fun for me.

For those of you who don’t do triathlons, you might look at this and think it’s entirely nuts. But for those of you who do triathlons you will notice how they are spaced out in days or weeks before the next race and whether or not it’s a Sprint, Olympic or Half Ironman Distance.

I think it looks like a fun schedule with a few races I’ve never done before with a couple of running races thrown in for some fun times.

Spectators are always welcome as we love to have people cheer us on.

Race Schedule

So… Are you doing anything fun this summer?

does that mean we actually get to meet? wow! i'll be there trying to keep up with Dan.

      • http://intensedebate.com/people/torybee torybee

Will Dan be racing? I heard from my David that he is on the waiting list…… but you can try to keep up with David…. he's pretty good in my very biased opinion! And yes! We'll actually get to meet…. if you don't mind putting up with three kids! :-) We'll be there either Fri through Monday or Saturday through Monday. :-)

I'll be running a marathon this summer…chasing my four kids around…does that count!!?? Good luck! I make a great cheerleader/spectator! Therefore I will cheer you on!

Ha! running around like that must be like running 4 marathons in a year. good luck with that:) make sure you hydrate. even if it's an adult beverage.

        always my friend…always….

I sent you a DM on Twitter yesterday about our marathon in November. Out of the 5 of us who are on this team a grand total of 0 are runners/athletes at all…before this year that is. Our first race it tomorrow – only 5k but for us it's a big deal. One of the guys on our team wants to train for a triathlon once we get the marathon under our belt. So, we'll see. Maybe next year I can join you in claiming I am a triathlete. (Aaahhh – that sounds scary!) Good luck with your races!!

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/SpenceSmith SpenceSmith

awesome!!! good luck tomorrow and yes that is a big honkin' deal! well come on over to the triathlete world… it's easier than you think:) i prefer it over marathons any day. but that's just me… then again… i saw a t shirt once that said if triathlons were easy they'd call it football!

they really are easier than you think to get into:)

  • Ani

Yeah, celebrating the Summer but not like you. You're a fanatic. Good luck.

  • Makeda

You're my hero Spence. Or at the very least an incredibly motivating inspiration. Good luck with your races. I think Augusta may be the only close enough for me to consider coming to cheer you on so if I can make that work I'll be there. Be safe as you train and most of all have fun!

You will be one busy athlete–have fun and be successful. And, do everything with the joy of the Lord in your heart! :-)

Definitely don't think you're crazy even though I wouldn't necessarily do one. :) I totally admire people who do things like this. Heck, if a person does a half marathon I think they're pretty awesome. Keep us updated!
